Wildcard at the Mayers and Blue Spring State Park

 1.13 and 1.14.2024

St. Augustine, FL

Saturday found us at Rob and Alice's house watching football and enjoying time with the Mayers and Lori and Tony Mastrostefano.  Hanging out with these folks is always fun.  Rob smoked ribs, we chatted, and generally had a chill game day with good friends.  Interestingly, I took no pictures!

Sunday we had planned on riding our bikes but with a high of 55, no sunshine, and a decent breeze we ditched that plan for a visit to Blue Springs State Park to see the manatees.  The drive was a bit more than an hour with about a 30 minute wait outside the park until parking was available, and it was totally worth it.  The manatee count for today was 354 as posted on the board when entering the park.  My Florida State Park Pass was still valid from last year so for $2.00 for Kenny we were in!

The Blue Spring

There are many raised boardwalks along the St. John's River which made for easy viewing.

Several manatees had tracking devises on them.  This one was hiding under a set of stairs.

In this section there were many mommas and babies.

It was Kenny's first time seeing manatees in the wild and Blue Spring definitely delivered!
