Kenny and I have always loved to travel. This blog follows our adventure in our 32 foot RV as we crisscross the US. After I retired in 2021 we were able to take longer trips as Kenny works remotely.

Wisconsin Dells Boat Tour
8.14
Mileage: 1293 (same as yesterday)
Wisconsin Dells
Buckets, it rained buckets. This actually worked out OK because I planned this as a "work day" for me. Laundry, meal planning, updating our reservations and itinerary, a trip to Walmart, and cleaning the RV filled the majority of the day. After the chores were done and Kenny took a break from work we went on a boat tour of the Upper Dells on the Wisconsin River. It was chilly and started raining on our return, but it was beautiful none-the-less. The tour makes two stops: Witch's Gulch and Standing Rock.
Along the river is Precambrian Sandstone which is eroded to show the many layers of sediment that were deposited millions of years ago.
Witch's Gulch is a narrow canyon that was carved by a stream that feeds the Wisconsin River. The walk was gorgeously spooky. We could hear the river and waterfalls below the walkway. It was other worldly (please ignore our boat hair).
Our second stop was Standing Rock. This was the site of the first stop action photo. H. H. Bennett took the photo of his son jumping across the 6 foot expanse which is 75 feet in the air. Today this is accomplished by a group of trained dogs.
I'm working on my video editing skills. Watch to the end to see the dog jump across.
The ride back to the dock was rainy so we went downstairs into the enclosed part of the boat.
Here is a picture of Comet after his morning walk/shower. Did I mention it rained buckets? Pretty sure he was shooting daggers at me.
