Planning and Fort Hays Chuckwagon and Old West Town

Mileage:  RV is still stationary.

This was a chill day for us.  We spent the morning planning our stops from Las Vegas to Fort Worth.  The second half of our trip was a vague outline with no specifics.  Since it is coming soon we spent time making it much more specific with a solid route, reservations where needed, and adjusting the route a bit.  It now looks like this:

We added in Sedona, AZ; dropped off Big Bend National Park, and added in Tulsa, OK to see Michele who will be living there by then.  We looked at several things we wanted to do like the train from Williams, AZ to the Grand Canyon and stopping by Winslow, AZ and had to concede that we can't do everything in one trip.  We will be back to that area at some point.  

With the hot temperatures the pool was calling us.  We lazed around and then got ready for The Fort Hays Chuckwagon and Old West Town.

Did you know that 41 movies have been shot in South Dakota?  Seems like a fact Poppy would have known.  One of the most famous was Dances with Wolves.  After shooting many of the sets from the movie were moved near Rapid City.  Add some country vittles and some music and you have a great experience!  We enjoyed wandering through the sets and seeing pictures from the shooting here.  We then entered the dinner hall with many picnic tables.  After our dinner of potatoes, beans, beef, apple sauce, a biscuit, and spice cake we enjoyed the Fort Hays Wranglers who played music from the 1950's to present.  

It was a fun evening!

Comet was a very good boy while we were gone.
