Streetsboro, OH
Cuyahoha National Park
We got up early to go hiking before Kenny had to work. We chose The Ledges Trail. The trail follows along limestone formations on a hillside. This was the first real hiking we’ve done since Kenny’s health odyssey began, and I’m happy to report that he came through it with what I would say is expected results. My knees are still feeling it this morning and so are his.
There were many examples of trees growing out of rocks. This might be my favorite.
If I was a better climber it would have been fun to climb inside some of the rock formations.
We made it to the top and could see The Cuyahoga Valley through the trees.
I dropped Kenny off and headed out to The Visitor Center. I picked up a map, chatted with a ranger, and got the stamp for our National Parks Passport for our 22nd National Park.
There were beautiful wildflowers growing outside the visitors center.
We are taking a ride on the scenic railroad on Wednesday.
What you can’t see or hear behind the sign is cheers from a group of people. They gathered to watch a ranger try to get a teenager’s cell phone from between the rocks of the sign. The ranger was successful! He worked on it the entire time I was in the area, about 45 minutes.
After the National Park I visited Szalay’s Fruit Stand. Much like Robert’s in The Everglades it is much more than a fruit stand. Along with nectarines, blackberries, tomatoes, plums, and some of the best corn I’ve ever eaten, I got a buckeye pie and some pasta. Wish I had room for these beautiful flowers, but not much room for them in the RV.
