Jayco Rally and Health Update

 July 17-21, 2024

Artillery Ridge Campground

Gettysburg, PA

The manufacturer of our RV is Jayco, unlike some of the other big manufacturers Jayco does not put-on a brand rally each year.  A Jayco owner, Don Florczyk, decided to fill the void and put rallies on himself.  We attended the second one this weekend in Gettysburg.  While Jayco didn’t attend several of the manufacturers of components in our RV did.  I enjoyed learning more about leveling and maintenance.  Unfortunately much of Kenny’s time was taken with the fallout of the cyber shutdown.

This is my entry for ‘Lil Abe for the rally. BTW I didn’t win.

We did get to spend time with Kenny’s brother Bob and his wife Ruth who live nearby.  We ate a delicious dinner, visited The Cow for ice cream, and planned for our January trip to Hawaii.

The rally was also special because we met-up again with RV friends we met two years ago in Florida.  Even though they own a Winnebago they were able to join the rally.  We enjoyed dinners with them as well as the company at some of the seminars.

Before we left town on Sunday we got up early to tour The Gettysburg Battlefield.  It is always amazing and terrifying to see how the battle unfolded.

While we were at the rally we had a call with Kenny’s oncologist.  Even after sending his biopsy sample to NIH the results are inconclusive as to the type of cancer we are facing.  Our next step is to visit with a surgeon which we are doing on August 7th.  The PET scan indicated two lymph nodes to biopsy.  The good news is the doctor encouraged us to keep traveling so we are working on another short trip this Fall and working on rebooking Michigan which was going to be our big trip this summer.

We are now in Streetsboro, Ohio visiting Cuyahoga National Park which is National Park #21.  More on that tomorrow.
