Grand Teton National Park
Mileage: Only the truck moved.
First, I forgot a cool thing from yesterday. As we were driving up Signal Mountain we saw this huge Bull Elk frolicking in the lily pads. He was massive and seemed to be enjoying the water.
Now . . . on to today . . . .
Grand Teton is a pretty compact park. We saw many of the things we wanted to see yesterday. However, the lighting is tricky here. Because the mountains face east the morning sun is significantly better to view them by. We had a few places we wanted to see in the morning. We started on Mormon Row with Moulton Barn. The iconic shape of the barn is said to mimic the shape of Grand Teton. It is beautiful
I almost always say no when someone else offers to take our picture and this is why . . . . I did my best to lighten it up, but we are still in shadow.
Our next stop was the Cunningham Ranch. It is an historic site that was successfully homesteaded before it was bought out for the park.
We then stopped at The Snake River Overlook. This is the spot where Ansel Adams took the iconic photo of the Grand Tetons. The topography of the river has changed slightly and there are more trees now, but the view is beautiful.
We drove down to Swabacher Landing. This off shoot of The Snake River has been dammed by beavers. Unfortunately, we didn't see any beavers, but it was a nice little walk.
We did see this cute chipmunk.
The water is very still and is an excellent mirror for the mountains.
There are also ducks on the pond, well river.
The beaver's handiwork.
There are a few glaciers still on the side of the mountains.
The Moose-Wilson road was where we finally saw our moose! She was small and kind of far away which is a good thing!
We ended-up in Teton Village. It is a very fancy ski village with a gondola that goes to the top of the mountain. It was expensive so we opted to skip it.
There are many ski runs near the top.
Comet is enjoying us being home and The Commander's win! Although they do make it interesting!
Tomorrow we move on and Kenny goes back to work. We have been strategizing the best way to get out of the mountains tomorrow. Wish us luck!
