Walmart Chubbuck, Idaho
Mileage: 3751
Last night was the last time we will be in a National Park for a few weeks. Kenny took the truck and went out to scout a couple of gas stations. He didn't find one in Jackson that was suitable, but he did find another moose.
This one was across the Gros Ventre River near our campground.
The dark sky was amazing at the campground with very little light pollution we could see thousands of stars.
Many people warned us about Teton Pass so we drove around the mountain instead of going over it. This took us through the Targhee National Forrest. It was a beautiful drive. I couldn't take pictures as I was concentrating on staying on the winding road. The road basically follows the path of the Snake River.
We crossed into Idaho our 14th state.
Once we got on the interstate we stopped at a rest area near Blackfoot. The rest area is right in the middle of old lava flows with trails that go through the lava field. We were on a tight time schedule so we didn't explore much, but it was very cool to look at!
After being in National Parks for almost two weeks we were in definite need of a refresh. I spent the afternoon in a laundromat, we went shopping in Walmart, we got propane, and both got gas. Real life still has to get done even though we are on the road.
Comet thought he would help out with the blog tonight.
While sleeping in a Walmart parking lot isn't our favorite it sure is convenient!
