Kenny and I have always loved to travel. This blog follows our adventure in our 32 foot RV as we crisscross the US. After I retired in 2021 we were able to take longer trips as Kenny works remotely.

Dallas to Waco (Really This Time)
10.18.2023
When I wrote yesterday’s blog I thought I’d combine a couple days then realized there was too much for one day. So sorry about the title!
While Kenny Worked Chris, Noel, and I left Fort Worth (Thanks again Tracy!) and headed into Dallas to The Sixth Floor Museum dedicated to the assassination of JFK. Our timed entry was at 10:30. I thought the museum did a good job of giving historical context to the time. There is much to read with many pictures and several movies. It was sobering to see the window from which the shots were fired.
After exiting the museum we walked down to Dealy Plaza. The area seems so much smaller than it appears on film. It is every to see the X’s on the street where the shots hit their mark. Also strange to actually walk along the grassy knoll.
We then high tailed it to Waco as we had reservations at Magnolia Table for lunch. This is Chip and Joanna Gaines’ (of Fixer Upper fame) restaurant. We had a great meal and enjoyed the friendly ambiance of the restaurant.
Sorry some pics are sideways.
Waco Mammoth National Monument was our next stop. It was amazing to see so many different skeletal remains of Columbian Mammoths. These animals were larger less furry relatives of Woolly Mammoths. The site is believed to be a watering hole that became contaminated thus killing many animals at once. Besides mammoths there are remains of large cats, turtles, and giant sloths.
On the way to the hotel I stopped by the campsite where Kenny and I would have stayed if we were still on our trip. It is beautiful sitting on a bluff with a view of Lake Waco. Chris and Noel were in the site next door.
After a very busy day I was happy to reach my hotel!
